This is a series of fabricated wooden tray tables that I have lacquered to match an original.

Chinoiserie Lacquer Screen

Structural repairs, worms holes filled, missing chinoiserie in-painted, cleaned and polished.

This clock had some minor structural cracks, flaking, and missing chinoiserie. It needed cleaning, and a light polish.

This Georgian clock’s raised chinoiserie was loose or missing.  There were also structural splits, pitting, and a dried and blushing finish.  Loose ground was secured, and missing areas replaced.  Once all repairs were complete, the finish was revived, and the in-painting completed.

This rare pair of lion-dogs were restored at least four previous times. They were received covered with a new layer of gilding, that was itself, quite unstable. After poking around, we discovered, what would be the remains of the original ground, with fragments of the original paint, and took it down to that level. They had very few carving loses, which we replaced, and while doing so, discovered the date inscription on the inside of one of the loose pieces of wood.

This miniature screen required lots of work.  Several of the panels were split, and about 30% of the lacquer was missing.  After picking off all the previous restoration, which was no longer stable, re-filling and re-carving  was done.  The screen was absolutely filthy, and given how fragile it was, took a long time to clean, but was worth the effort, to get to the original lacquer color.

Various Chinoiserie Chairs

Edo period statue/doll.  Known for their luminous pale skin, and round jolly demeanor, this guy was not so happy.  He was sort of self destructing from the inside out.  I have a great fondness for these particular sculptures, and it was a lot of fun to put him back together.

This screen’s surface was tenting. There was a lot of missing lacquer, and it needed a light polish.
